Yesterday was a very special day at the United Nations!
Four visually impaired students from the @lighthouseguild graduated from their summer job experience program ⭐️
The program ran at the UN for a little over 3 weeks and the students gained experience in the front and back of house.
The students were each given their own Certificate of Completion in Braille, and @educationalvisionservices, which partners with The Lighthouse Guild, presented @chef.peter.k with a plaque as a thank you for his partnership with them over the years 👏
The students were so grateful to have this experience and our CulinArt team at the UN felt so lucky to have them there! The ceremony was so beautiful and it brought most of the people in the room to tears 🥹
With the partnership and support of the UN, we hope to have many more programs like this in the future!

🌟 Hands to Work at Darrow School 🌟
Every Wednesday during the school year, students rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on intro to foodservice!
Led by Chef Jayson Shaw, they learned safety and sanitation, cleaned the dining hall, and prepped meals. From slicing veggies (with cut gloves) to baking muffins.
One highlight? Helping make Nashville hot chicken. Students breaded the chicken, made house chips, and mixed the seasoning!
This program builds real-world skills, teamwork, and confidence for both students and staff. 👩🍳👏
