His favorite family recipe is Feijoada Portuguesa - a type of chili with pig feet, chorizo, and chicken over white rice.
He also says that food plays a big role in bringing his family and friends together. "We love to get the family together to eat, our table can fit 30 people! We love having the extended family and friends over!"
Mario says that a dish that reminds him most of home is Pasteis de nata - a Portuguese egg custard tart, known for its flaky crust and sweet custard filling.

Last month, The Windward School celebrated National Pie Day, and it was a hit!
After selling 78 slices in under 5 minutes for Apple Pie Day, they came prepared with 180 slices of apple, blueberry, and cherry for lunch.
Students definitely showed up for the classics (apple was the favorite!), but blueberry and cherry didn’t last long either.
Such a fun and sweet addition to lunch! 💛
